Avalon Hills Bible Church: Summer 2025 Week 6

Last week Avalon Hills Bible Church joined us for a mission trip in Hampton Roads. This group of high-school-aged youth is a veteran group with EY2S and it felt like a homecoming to have them serve with us last week. This group of student missionaries dug deep into the Scriptures during Bible Study and developed and nurtured their faith. They encouraged one another and truly exemplified iron sharpening iron.

For work-site last week, the missionaries served at PB Young Elementary school in Norfolk. They continued the project of sanitizing the classrooms and helping the educators prepare for the quickly-approaching school year. It is an honor to continue to partner alongside this local school and serve our community in this manner.

The missionaries also worked in the community garden at Redeemer Church this past week. While at the garden they helped dig out more rows for planting, mulch between the rows for drainage, and add mushroom soil to create a fertile field. Some students had the honor of assisting with harvesting food. The Lord blessed the family that is leading the community garden project this week. He provided a riding lawn mower to help with the general up-keep of the community garden. The Holy Spirit led to a selection that was the exact make and model of lawn mower that the family wanted. It was a beautiful testament to how the Lord provides abundantly more than we can ask or imagine.

For community outreach this past week all the missionaries went to VBS at Huntersville Rec Center in Norfolk. The students shared about the truth of the Gospel and had deep conversations with local kids that asked about God. The student missionaries stepped out in boldness this year and shared their faith with the local community. The warmth and genuine desire to love others was evident in this group of students and made an impact on the community.

We are so grateful for the time spent with the youth group from Avalon Hills Bible Church. Their transparency and openness to share about their walks with the Lord allowed for deep conversations during Bible Study and sharing times. The students grew in their faith and in support of each other. This tight-knit group exemplified the commands of loving the Lord and each other well.
