Virginia Beach Community Chapel: Summer 2025 Week 2

Updated: Jun 30, 2025

This past week Virginia Beach Community Chapel (VBCC) joined us for their week of summer missions. This large team of 20 energetic missionaries persevered through extreme heat to serve the Lord and the community in Fairmont. They were also joined by a week-long intern Mackenzie from Gateway Bible Church.

The VBCC team served Camp4Heroes during their work project by washing RVs and organizing a large tool-shed. The team stayed cool by surprising other team members with a spray from the hose. Despite the heat, the students relied on the Lord's strength, and copious amounts of water and electrolytes, to serve Camp4Heroes.

The team also visited a local community member and worked around his property. They had the privilege of hearing his testimony and held space for him to share about how the Lord has worked in his life. It was a great encouragement to the team and it reminded them that sometimes the best work they can do is sit still and listen.

This week, the student missionaries joined Orrum Baptist Church to put on a VBS for the local community. We helped bring a few community members from Fairmont housing that otherwise would not have had the opportunity to attend. The student missionaries and the volunteers at Orrum Baptist Church pursued the kids and shared the gospel with them, despite a few difficulties. The student missionaries stepped up as leaders throughout VBS. It was a success and many young people heard the message that Jesus loves them and wants them to join His Kingdom.

We are thankful that Virginia Beach Community Chapel shared their time, energy, and talents with us this past week. Their desire to pursue God and serve others was evident and they were a great blessing to the Fairmont community.
